Escondido offers attractive homes in a wide range of prices, two lakes, many parks, a sports center, golf courses, restaurants, wineries, shopping centers, comprehensive healthcare and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Also home to the California Center for the Arts, Escondido and Queen Califia’s Magical Circle, a sculpture garden in Kit Carson Park, Escondido offers a wide array of entertainment and culture for people of all ages.

Parks and Attractions:

San Diego Zoo Safari ParkAt the San Diego Zoo Safari Park you can see some of Africa’s most beloved animals — including lions, elephants and cheetahs — roaming free in an area that is more like their natural habitat than what you would see at a traditional zoo. The park offers a variety of different safaris, including a zip-line safari and a caravan safari.

Palomar Mountain State Park: The Palomar Mountain State Park features camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing (trout) in Doane Pond. Coniferous forests cover much of the 1,862 acres and with elevation within the park averages 5,000 feet above sea level evenings are much cooler even in the summer months. A number of vista points offer spectacular panoramic views both westerly toward the ocean and inland toward the desert.

San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park: San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park, just east of Escondido, honors the soldiers who fought in the battle between the U.S. and California forces on December 6, 1846 in the midst of the Mexican-American War. State Park volunteers conduct tours of the facility and provide living history programs. There are also picnic areas, museums, family programs and interpretive exhibits to explore in this Historic Park. Park Volunteers encourage you to call ahead to confirm the park’s hours before you leave the house.
